Omporro will produce an exclusive line of handles for La Cucina, a project born from the collaboration between Riva 1920, Matteo Thun & Partners and AHEC, and inspired by the use of wood in its most natural form. La Cucina– the kitchen – is an environment that blends tradition and modernity, as well as the focal and social point of the household, where people cook and spend time together.
The La Cucina project will be presented at the International Kitchen Trade Fair LivingKitchen in Cologne with an invitation-only opening event entitled “Risotto in cucina”.
Riva Industria Mobile’s goal was to collaborate with top companies that are able to combine beautiful design with truly eco-friendly production methods.
Within the context of theLa Cucina project, Omporro was therefore selected as the ideal partner to create the handles, due to its technical expertise, eco-sustainable production, code of ethics and excellent reputation on the market.
The handle created for this project is completely concealed from view when doors are closed since it is positioned on door backs. This is an essential feature to prevent physical wear and tear on doors featuring handles directly carved into the wood and used in a high-stress environment such as the kitchen.
The material used is 99% recyclable, lead-free Italian brass, which is certified to be free of radioactivity. The brass has a burnished finish and the final resin layer has been cataphoretically deposited. The handle is incorporated directly into the solid wood of the door.
It is also worth mentioning that, among the remarkable eco-friendly features of the production process, 55% of the electricity used by the Omporro production facility is generated by its new photovoltaic system and 75% of the water needed for rinses during the finishing process is recycled trough the osmosis process.
